Meet Heartland


Kevin M. Wosmansky

Kevin started his career in the mortgage industry in 1997 upon graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. After spending several years originating for a regional mortgage banker, Kevin started his own mortgage brokerage. After successfully running his own mortgage company for 5 years, Kevin decided to change his business platform to a model that allowed his company to underwrite & fund their own loans. Thus, Kevin partnered with a national mortgage banker and changed his company to Heartland Mortgage Group. Kevin’s professional goal is to build a mortgage company that goes beyond the typical boundaries of mortgage banking and is able to create financial security and life long relationships for the customers his company serves. Away from the office, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife Molly and his daughter, Reagan. Kevin also is a very avid Iowa Hawkeye football tailgater. Kevin enjoys waterfowl and pheasant hunting when he can find the time. Currently, Kevin serves as the Immediate Past President and Legislative Committee Chair of the Iowa Mortgage Association. Additionally, Kevin is very active in the Larry Nehring Detachment-Marine Corps Leauge and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

David A. Bell

Starting as a processor, David has worked his way to General Manager of Sales at Heartland Mortgage Group. He realizes that buying or refinancing, a person’s mortgage is one of their biggest investments and, very likely, their biggest debt. Getting generic information & a cookie cutter loan isn’t in the best interest for anyone. David looks at the complete picture & has the solid grounding in financial education to place the right loan for each client. During his free time, David is very active in the Des Moines Fencing Club, participating in tournaments throughout the year & has even fenced in Jakarta Indonesia & recently in Rome, Italy. David is also active in his membership in the Marine Corps League & West Des Moines Elks Lodge.

Tina Shields -Jones

After fifteen years in retail management and a corporate downsizing, Tina began her career in the mortgage industry five years ago. "Everything happens for a reason," says Tina. Tina says her career goal is simple, 'I love helping people realize their dream of home ownership as well as grow their personal wealth with real estate holdings.' Tina has three sons, Aaron, an ironworker in Des Moines and an Iraqi war veteran, Andrew, a musician living in Chicago and Chas, who attends Summitt Middle school and is a local athlete. When Tina has any free time after following her three sons activities, she enjoys spending time anyplace warm with her husband Dennis, a Des Moines firefighter. Tina currently is involved in the National Association for Women in Business, the National Association of Executive Females and the National Songwriters Association International.

Luke Landis

Luke first started in the mortgage industry 10 years ago. After several years in a bank environment, Luke determined that his real passion was helping people buy and refinance homes so he decided to work exclusively in real estate finance. As a Senior Loan Officer for Heartland Mortgage Group, Luke believes that quality customer service is the key to achieving a great loan experience. Outside of the mortgage industry, Luke has been married to his wife Emily for 10 years and has a three year old daughter named Allison and an infant son, Owen. Luke is involved with his church Point of Grace and he claims his passions are music , singing, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Matt has been serving his clients mortgage needs for 16 years and remains committed to providing affordable housing and working hard to provide homeowners with valuable financial education as well as just a loan. In addition to serving as a member of IAAMB, NAMB, & Business Architects, Matt serves on many local charity committees and believes in giving back to the community whenever possible. Matt’s personal interests include spending time with his 6 horses, 3 cats, and his dog on their farm near Des Moines, landscaping, hiking/camping, and traveling.

Barb started her career in the mortgage industry in 2000. After spending 18 years in retail sales as a District Manager for a national merchandiser, Barb decided she wanted to work directly with people and have a greater impact on peoples lives. 'Helping individuals and families not only buy a home, but also understand the financial impact it will have on their family and lives is the best way that I can make a positive impact on others," says Barb. Outside of work, Barb's primary passion is her family. Spending as much time as she can with her 6 year old grandson Noah and her 11 month old granddaughter Reagan is Barbs greatest pleasure. When she is not spoiling her two grandchildren, Barb enjoys everything from decorating to boating and swimming.

After spending 12 years in the insurance industry, Dee Dee wanted to work closer with her clients and her background made for a smoothe transition in mortgage banking. Dee Dee has been a mortgage loan officer for over 5 years now and is very passionate about making the dream of homeownership a reality for her clients. Purchasing a home is one of the largest investments a person will ever make, so she feels educating her clients as to what all of their options are is vitally important. This dedication & commitment helps her develop clients for life. When not in the office, you’ll find her and her husband David, spending time with their children. They have developed quite the team at home with the combination of hers, his, and theirs. With a total of one girl age 26 and five boys, ages 20, 18, 11, 9, and 21 months….you can imagine there is never a dull moment. Keeping life exciting is what it’s all about.

Bonny Bisset

Bonny has been a Mortgage Loan Officer in Des Moines for 10 years now. She enjoys assisting people with home financing, whether it would be a new home purchase or refinancing their present home. She enjoys educating her customers in the area of credit repair. This is a subject that she feels very passionate about and feels that the more people understand about their credit and how to protect it, it benefits not only them but the industry has a whole. Bonny enjoys volunteering for different organizations in the greater Des Moines area. When she is away from the office, and has the time and solitude, her greatest passion is writing. She is currently working on a screenplay and two children’s books.

Mark Nissen

Mark has been in the mortgage industry since 1990. He has dealt with all types of home loans over the years and is comfortable with unusual circumstances. His reason for choosing to work here is "The key to any company worth working for is a true heart for helping their clients". With in-house underwriting and an ability to find the right way for each individual this is the place that fits best. He lives in Dallas Center with his dog Natoth. Mark is available for contact at any time and is always available on his cell phone night, day, evenings and weekends. He will be happy to answer questions or offer suggestions on opportunities when its convenient for you.

Shannon Thome

Shannon started her career in the mortgage industry on Valentine’s Day 2000. She has enjoyed 8 years of success as a mortgage broker by maintaining strong customer service, creativity and pure heart. Being with her previous company for 6 years, Shannon decided it was time to switch gears and joined Heartland Mortgage Group in July 2008. Shannon also has a passion for being an educator within the financial industry. With a certification from the National Association of Consumer Credit Counselors, Shannon has worked with hundreds of clients in rebuilding their credit in order to achieve their goal of home ownership. Outside of her career, Shannon has been with her husband Larry since 1994 and together they have 2 beautiful children, Jacob and Joseph. Shannon also enjoys snow skiing and sandy beaches and is active in her church Point of Grace.

Terry joins the Heartland Mortgage Group bringing with him over 5 years of lending experience. Terry graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Management and was the starting point guard for the Cyclones Men's Basketball Team. As a student-athlete he learned the value of hard work in the class room and on the playing field. He has transcended this knowledge to the business aspects of the mortgage profession. Each loan that he facilitates will be studied and reviewed to determine the cost effectiveness of the loan program. This creates a situation that best suits you as the consumer. Terry believes in Heartland and he knows that you will too. He is a member of the IAAMB and NAMB respectively. Terry is the proud father of a teenage daughter and understands the stress that accompanies this honor. She is his star and he is her protector. His own personal interests includes basketball, music, fashion, and spending time with his family and friends.

Scott entered the mortgage finance industry straight out of college and has devoted his career to advancing his knowledge in this field. Scott has experience as a loan officer, a coordinator, as well as processing. His goal is to become a top-notch underwriter. Outside of the office, Scott enjoys spending most of his time with his son, Noah. Additionally, Scott enjoys traveling, camping and attending as many music concerts as he can get tickets for.

Brenda Deemer

Brenda started out on the servicing side of the mortgage industry in 1998. She then came to Heartland Mortgage Group in 2003. She has been a loan processor & loan closer for the past several years. Outside of work she enjoys playing with her daughter Breana, riding horses, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and coaching her daughter in soccer.

Amy Pruitt

Amy joined the mortgage industry in 2003 as the Office Manager. She has started the new year off by taking her latest role of Loan Coordinator. Her goal is to advance her knowledge in this field and eventually learn the underwriting and closing end of the loan process. Outside of the mortgage industry, Amy is married to her husband, Curtis, and has two beautiful children, Ashlyn 2 and Austin 1. Aside from working fulltime and taking care of her two kids, Amy is also the Office Manager for her husband’s company, ASAP Pest Control & Termite. Her favorite hobbies include riding four wheelers, racing go-karts with her husband, and spending time with her kids.

Kirsten Martin

Kirsten joined the mortgage industry in 1998 after completing her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Upper Iowa University. Kirsten first started as a mortgage loan closer, then worked as a loan coordinator for two loan officers and finally became a loan officer herself in 2001. In 2007, Kirsten became the company’s loan post closer, ensuring the company is in compliance. Outside of work, she and her fiancé', Rick, live in Ankeny with Kirsten’s son, Royce. Kirsten's personal passions include camping, boating, music, going to farmers markets and shopping for antiques.
